Perpetual Evolution is an interactive experience created for a CMO Academy event held at Deloitte University. The concept developed by Dave&Gabe was the compression and expansion of time. We're taken on an evolutionary journey from a singular cell, to fish, a bird, primitive villages, a cityscape, space exploration, and the collapse of the universe.
I developed this journey through a 3D animation, and provided a series of render passes. These render passes were then used by Vincent Houzé to design a custom GLSL particle system. The colors, size, and direction of the brush strokes he developed were altered based on the information in the passes.
During the event, each frame of the animation was displayed on a 40' canopy for 15 seconds. When the guests rolled one of 6 crystal balls below, it would draw colorful brush strokes onto the frame. Once the 2 hour event concluded, the drawn frames were sequenced into a new animation uniquely created by the interactions of the guests.
